2D to 3D Switchable Holographic Display

A first look at a next-gen Hololuminescent™ Display that behaves like a normal full-resolution 2D screen, then can switch into a group-viewable hologram mode.

Important: this is a first look at a new experimental technology. We are sharing this breakthrough so that we may work with partners exploring the future of retail, consumer, OOH, and experiential products.

Why this matters
  • Proprietary group-view spatial display; patents pending and granted.
  • 2D display + light field hybrid architecture.
  • Mass-producible on existing LCD production lines.
  • Small cost impact: about 30% on the display module.
  • No moving parts.
  • Switches between 2D and 3D with no resolution or framerate loss.

Note from Shawn, our founder

Our award-winning HLD Gen 1 is powerful because it preserves full-holographic resolution. But the hologram is always on.

That is great for dedicated signage and high-impact installations, but it keeps hologram display technology in a specialty category.

The breakthrough we are exploring is a switchable system: use the display as a standard 2D screen, then activate hologram mode when the moment calls for dimensional impact. Of course, no VR/AR headsets or 3D glasses needed.

Why it matters

Holograms should not be limited to specialty displays.

If a holographic display can move between normal full-resolution 2D content and a group-viewable hologram mode, we can bring holograms for purely specialty markets to broader digital signage, automotive, and consumer applications. With the switchable HLD gen2 breakthrough, this future is around the corner.

  • Full-resolution 2D when the hologram is off.
  • 3D holograms when the experience calls for it.
  • One display architecture for everyday content and breakthrough moments.
