Connecting is simple via USB-C, but power requirements vary between models.
Looking Glass Go: Connects directly to an iPhone or iPad via USB-C and runs off the iOS device’s battery. For extended use, we recommend an inductive charger to provide power to your iPhone or iPad, while keeping the USB-C available to connect to your Looking Glass display.
Looking Glass 16": Requires power for both the display and the iPad. While the iPad can run on battery for a period, the recommended setup includes a dock that provides inductive power to the back of the iPad, ensuring the USB-C port remains available for video output to the Looking Glass display.
We offer a simple dock accessory and a more robust console designed for permanent installations, holding both an iPad and a 16" display.
Connect your iOS device to your display and follow the software setup steps outlined on our documentation site on your iPhone or iPad.
We offer a dock for the 16" that provides inductive charging to the back of the iPad, securely holds the device, and allows a single USB-C connection from the iPad to the Looking Glass display. For more permanent setups, the 16" Console provides a stable stand for both the iPad and the display, ideal for professional and lab environments.
Compatible with iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, and iPad Pro (M4 or later). Works with Looking Glass Go and the latest Looking Glass 16" displays. This does not currently support the Looking Glass 32" or 65" displays.
Thanks to a major software breakthrough, Looking Glass now operates on mobile processors by optimizing computational efficiency. This advancement reduces the power required to generate holograms, allowing iPhones and iPads to seamlessly drive immersive 3D experiences without needing a high-performance PC.
Run interactive apps, explore demos, and watch 3D videos—all without a computer or headset. The system extends your iPhone or iPad as a second display, rendering true 3D content in real time.
Our demo apps showcase real-world applications and are designed to inspire developers to build their own.
3D Replicas: A museum and archival demonstration where historical artifacts are displayed in 3D, allowing users to rotate, zoom, and adjust lighting to examine details from all angles.
3D Shoecase (Coming Soon): A retail demonstration where an iPad is used to select different shoes and display them in 3D on a Looking Glass. This shows how interactive 3D product visualization can enhance the shopping experience.
4D Ultrasound (Coming Soon): Displays actual medical scan data in 3D, offering a compelling use case for healthcare applications where depth and spatial accuracy are critical.
3D Memoji (Coming Soon): Uses the built-in camera of an iOS device to create an animated holographic avatar, demonstrating possibilities for real-time 3D character rendering and social applications.
Yes! Our Unity plugin allows you to build and deploy interactive 3D applications for iOS. You can create entirely new apps or integrate Looking Glass support into existing iOS apps. Apps are developed using our Unity plugin on a computer, and can then be deployed as standard iOS applications via TestFlight or the App Store.
The Hologram Video Player transforms Cinematic Mode and RGBD videos into 3D holograms viewable on Looking Glass. Cinematic Mode captures depth automatically on supported iPhones, while RGBD videos use a side-by-side format with depth data to render in 3D on the Looking Glass display.
Yes! Unlike VR headsets, which only generate two perspectives (one per eye), and smartphones that display a single 2D view, Looking Glass outputs up to 100 perspectives of 3D content simultaneously. This allows multiple people to see different angles of the same 3D image at the same time, creating a truly shared, group-viewable experience.
You can use our demo apps, our Hologram Video app, or build your own applications with the Unity plugin.
